(More customer reviews)Most of the food I'll be making for gifts this year will be shipped across the U.S. or overseas. Recipes that can handle the journey and instructions on how to ensure flavor and condition were important requirements for me. This book assumes the reader will hand deliver these gifts to the recipient(s). There were no notes or ideas for mailing these gift items.
This cookbook has beautiful photographs of almost all of the recipes. Ms. Brennan has taken familiar recipes and added an interesting twist, such as substituting tangerine juice for lemon to create tangerine curd. The wrapping ideas for presenting these creations are very tasteful, a la Martha Stewart.
Some recipes that I intend to make for my own pantry or for local friends are:
. Cranberry Chutney
. Tangerine Curd
. Preserved Lemonds
. Cheese Straws (very easy recipe)
. Lemon-Spice Olives
. Cheddar-Herb Shortbread
. Savory Palmiers
. Baci (an Italian sandwich cookie)
The book includes photos of some items for which I found no corresponding recipes. That led to a search for an errata that might have been published on the web. Ms. Brennan's website does not list this book among her other cookbooks nor does the publisher Oxmoor House.
