I'll let you in on a secret- I am 29 and I love this book! I have no patience for cooking, becoming frustrated at recipes that call for too many ingredients and too many steps. That's why this book is perfect for me! The recipes are simple, no fancy ingredients, no time consuming steps, yet the results are delicious. I cooked up the Cinnamon Rolls the other day and my friend thought that they were store-bought. They were so easy to make yet so good. If you are a big kid who doesn't like cooking, check this book out.

OK - I confess. I bought it to have some kitchen fun with my daughter who is interested in cooking. But the more I play around with this cookbook, the more suited I find it is for ME - the Dad! I'm really busy and don't have much time for tedious recipes. These are fast, tasty, and familiar. My daughter and I have worked on a few of them. She loves those breakfast burritos. I really enjoy the blast from the past taste of the creamsicle shakes. At any rate, it's a helpful book for a parent/kid team - and I like it myself for preparing something fast that tastes great. We have Fishbein's other two books and I really like the kids' book the most.

This book is so cute and the recipes are so easy!
Nice recipes for all holidays, easy to follow and beautiful ilustrations. We love the picture of the presidents eating coney dogs.
The recipes are the kind that the whole family will enjoy.
We got the Kids in the Kitchen for our niece last year and now we got this one to make a "Cookig basket" to donate for a fundraiser to raise money for the Children's Tumor Foundation.
We recomend this book for all families! Great deal for the money!

When Bon Appetit and other prestigous publications give this one rave reviews, that's a hint that you might have a "find"...and they are right. From Sabbath to Passover, there are recipes that are delicious, generally very easy to prepare and clearly explained. Although designed for children, I think this one would be excellent for anyone who wants to become an excellent Jewish cook. It is like having a crash course in both the essentials and some special variations.
The book is extremely attractive and there are additions which make it special, such as suggested prayers, historical info about each holiday, great illustrations, etc.
Although the vast majority of the recipes are very simple, when one is a bit more complex, there are often step-by-step illustrations. An example would be Children's Cholent, where every single part of the process is pictured, right up to putting the dish in the oven.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that many of the recipes were unique or new to me.
ANOTHER PLUS: The author suggests which parts of the recipe might be appropriate and easy for a child to handle and which should be done with supervision.

Williams-Sonoma Kids in the Kitchen: Fun Food Review

Williams-Sonoma Kids in the Kitchen: Fun Food

I was looking through quite a few books before settleing on this one. For my two boys I knew I needed pictures at least of the dish and a clear discription. I also found that other recipe books were packed with treats and snacks what I really didn't want nor need.
There is a list of ingredients (which makes it easy to check if you have everything) and a list of tools
The recipe is then divided into steps , and again subdivided for easy reading. There is a photograph of pretty much every other step that depicts other children cooking the dish at those very steps. At the end there are suggestions for easy variations which is awesome because some kids just might like different ingredients and it stretches the 25 recipes to quite a few more.
The recipes are healthy, basic but with a great variety. So there should be something for everyone. Great buy! Great book! Definately a keeper.
