(More customer reviews)Curses that Katherine Leone's "Eat In Kitchens" emerged only after I had suffered through my kitchen renovation. This book addresses such a wonderful range of the functional and stylistic considerations that underlie a successful kitchen, obviating the trial and error method for discovering what works. The luscious photographs and layout of each page entice the reader to ponder how daily needs might best be met, from types of sinks, flooring, countertop surfaces, usage zones, islands, traffic flow, storage, seating, lighting and use of color. While the overall feel of the book is clearly modern, the style is not limited to the contemporary but also includes more traditional examples, bringing this book to the forefront for review in planning a new kitchen. Highly recommended.

Dining rooms are out ... Eat-in Kitchens are in. Today's lifestyle is informal, and with housing and energy costs as high as they are, reserving a room just for dining on special occasions doesn't make sense for most people. Besides, kitchensare larger today to accommodate all kinds of activities. When company comes, pretty linens and some candlesinstantly transformtheeveryday kitchen table into something special.
